We strengthen and support women’s movements in our focus countries in Africa and Asia, and take collective action at regional and global levels, to ensure women’s voices are heard, their rights are realised, and their lives are free from violence.

The selected individual will be responsible for:
- Reviewing current fundraising strategies and progress with partners in East Africa (either Ethiopia or Kenya and Uganda).
- Work closely with Womankind’s partner women’s rights organisations to advise on fundraising for those organisations and understand and respect their organisational values and principles.
- Scoping, prospecting and supporting partners with relationship building with donors funding in East Africa (Either Ethiopia or Kenya and Uganda)
- Providing practical advice and support with development of proposals with and for Womankind’s partner Women’s Rights Organisations and networks in East Africa (Either Ethiopia or Kenya and Uganda)
- We envisage that work will mainly focus on income from foundations including corporate foundations but may also include funding from embassies and high net worth individuals.
- We anticipate Fundraising Advisors working within Ethiopia and Kenya/Uganda to be in contact if there are potential opportunities for multi-country collaboration across the region AWESOME consortium (e.g. for consortia projects across Ethiopia/Kenya and Uganda).
- Sharing insight, learning and connections to inform future plans for the Fundraising Adviser role and to inform implementation of Womankind’s organisational strategic goals
- Work with Womankind’s Manager, Resourcing Feminist Movements and Womankind partners to share prospects where funders will not fund partners directly in line with Womankind’s funding charter.
Deliverables:
- An inception plan for work to be carried out based on initial conversations with Womankind partners and understanding of their fundraising priorities.
- Development of a pipeline of potential funding opportunities for Womankind partners in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.
- Make introductions and advise on donor meeting strategies for partners face-to-face or virtually
- Development of and/or review of existing partner fundraising strategies
- Support with collation of partner material used for fundraising to reuse for future prospects
- Development of learning and sharing moments between partners to assist with organisational sustainability
- Regular updates and check-ins with the Manager, Resourcing Feminist Movements to share knowledge and learning.
- Final Review Meeting with the Manager, Resourcing Feminist Movements at the end of the contract to highlight key learnings from the consultancy process to inform future fundraising advisor roles within Womankind Worldwide.
