About Us:

Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is the world’s only movement for every girl and any girl because we believe that each of them deserves to be the best they can be. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts learn by doing, make friends and have fun. In brave, local spaces, girls develop the skills and attitudes to change themselves, their communities and our world. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts supports 153 national Girl Guide and Girl Scout organisations around the world to be united, thriving and growing.

About the Role:

To support an environmental project in Europe. This is a position funded by the European Youth Foundation (EYF). The coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the project, specifically in the development and adaptation of educational resources on climate action for the Europe Region. They will support an already established team of staff and volunteers who are working on environmental awareness in the Europe Region.

The consultant-expert will be selected based on their experience in non-formal education, climate change advocacy, and curriculum development, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge necessary to guide the project effectively.

Collaboration between a group of volunteers and staff members who are currently running an environmental project in Europe. The aim is to ensure the participatory nature of this phase, with the young participants playing a key role in the resource development process.

Concrete outputs:

  • a comprehensive consultation with Member Organisations (MOs) and young people to gather insights on the current tools and gaps related to climate action among young people. The consultant will oversee and guide the volunteers conducting the survey. The expert, alongside a core team, will work on producing a detailed Report summarising the findings from these consultations, identifying the best approaches to adapting climate education materials for the Europe Region.
  • Following the production of the Report, the expert will work closely with the core group to draft an adapted-to-context climate change educational toolkit, focusing on WAGGGS' non-formal education approach. This toolkit will be designed to address specific regional needs, incorporating diverse themes such as the gender dimension of climate change, mental health, and equal access to resources like clean water. The young people will take an active role in drafting, providing feedback, and testing the materials within their own networks. The global version that will need adaptation can be found here: https://www.wagggs.org/fr/what-we-do/girl-led-action-on-climate-change/glacc-activity-packs/
