The project will be co-executed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Save the Children in Malawi over a five-year period. Its goal is to reduce the risk of climate-related diseases, enhance the climate resilience of healthcare infrastructure, and build the capacity of healthcare staff and communities to respond to the health impacts of climate change. This project serves as a foundational health systems strengthening initiative for the MoH to address its climate and health objectives outlined in the Health Sector Strategy III.

The Technical Specialist for GESI will lead the technical strategy and implementation of GESI functions for the Green Climate Fund project, reporting to the Technical Advisor Lead. This role ensures the integration of GESI across the project, provides guidance on safeguarding, and minimizes risks of violence, exploitation, abuse, and harassment. The incumbent will work closely with six local councils, supporting project staff to achieve GESI objectives, and lead the strategic direction for GESI activities. They will also oversee gender and social inclusion analysis and strategy throughout the project

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
