 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as the principal resource on GE issues, practices and policies relevant to the project. 
  • Undertake a comprehensive and intersectional gender-based analysis (GBA+) during the inception period, to develop the Project’s GE Strategy, in close collaboration with the HQ Gender Equality Specialist.
  • Inform all key project documents at the Inception Phase including but not limited to, the Performance Measurement Framework (PMF), Project Implementation Plan (PIP), and Risk Management, to ensure integration of GE and alignment with GE Strategy.
  • Inform annual work planning and reporting processes and deliverables, including but not limited to, the Annual Workplan and Annual Progress Report to ensure integration of GE and alignment with GE Strategy, and to provide periodic reporting on progress of the GE Strategy and GE outcomes.
  • Provide direction for the implementation and quality control of the GE Strategy, including regularly updating it as the project needs and context evolve, facilitating / leading regular consultations and engagement, including with national gender machinery and women’s rights organizations, to inform the GBA+.
  • Lead capacity building and exchange of knowledge and skills in GE with implementing partners, including through the development and delivery of relevant training and other resources.
  • Develop and provide training and advice to the Jakarta and province-based staff and consultants to support the effective implementation of the project’s GE Strategy, including foundational and periodic GE refresher trainings.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to build GE capacity of key project stakeholders, including government, private sector, and NGO partners.
  • Liaise regularly with other project staff particularly the Provincial Coordinators and project partners in monitoring progress towards achievement of desired gender results. 
  • Work with the Project MEL Team / personnel to ensure that project data is disaggregated by sex, age, and other intersectional identity factors; that the use of GE-sensitive indicators; and advise on participatory and inclusive approaches to data collection, ensuring respect for the principle of do no harm.
  • Document lessons learned and good practices for wider dissemination, regarding gender mainstreaming across the project and with a focus on women and girls’ access to critical health information, women and girls’ decision-making on SRHR, and challenging harmful social norms and practices that affect women and girls’ health and rights.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s Degree in one of the following fields: Anthropology, Sociology, Women’s Studies, Development Studies, Women’s Economic Empowerment or other relevant graduate degree in social sciences 
  • At least 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in advisory or programme management experience related to the promotion of Gender Equality and operational gender mainstreaming, including conducting gender analyses, particularly in an international organization.
  • Strong demonstrated experience working with both government and community stakeholders to promote GE and strengthen stakeholder capacity to advance GE objectives.
  • Experience in the health sector and/or working on SRHR and/or SRHR related initiatives highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Global Affairs Canada’s objectives, approaches, and operational guidelines as it relates to Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.
