Gender training Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
Background
The Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH) is UNDP’s main knowledge and advisory hub for the countries and territories serviced by UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS (RBEC). The Gender Equality Team at the UNDP IRH supports UNDP Country Offices in 19 countries and territories in the Europe and Central Asia region with a range of advisory services to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. 

Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the policy, research and programmatic work in the areas of care work, women’s leadership and gender responsive governance

Care work and care economy:
  • Lead policy, research and programmatic work on the care economy, including by preparing and reviewing reports, Terms of Reference, briefing documents, methodological notes, and project proposals;

Women’s leadership and gender responsive governance:
  • Integrate gender mainstreaming tools into local economic development initiatives envisioned as part of the M4EG project, and support the development and implementation of specific initiatives aimed at enhancing gender equality and fostering women’s empowerment and leadership;

Facilitate knowledge and capacity building, knowledge sharing, and advocacy relevant to the assigned thematic areas
  • Design and lead capacity-building sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing events that advance gender responsive governance, women’s leadership, and inclusive social care;
  • Work with stakeholders – including partners in government, private sector, civil society organizations, donors, and academia – to ensure training and other initiatives are inclusive, consultative, and impactful;
  • Participate in and ensure sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice in the areas of focus;

Support the regional Gender Equality Team’s communications and outreach materials on gender equality issues, trends and developments in the ECA region
  • Support the IRH Gender Equality and Communications Teams in the joint preparation, content development, coordination of production and dissemination of substantive online and offline knowledge products, and communications and advocacy materials; 
  • Liaise with IRH Communications Team on substantive gender equality content for strategic communications; 
  • Support the design of engaging gender equality content (articles, blogs, stories, videos, advocacy and social media campaigns, etc.) to advance gender equality in other thematic areas. 

Required Skills and Experience
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Social or Political Science, International Development, International Relations, Gender Studies, or related field is required Or
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the above mentioned fields in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Minimum 2 years (with Master’s degree or equivalent) or 4 years (with Bachelor’s degree) at the national or international level in supporting initiatives on gender equality and development, with a special focus on the care economy and women’s leadership. 
  • Knowledge and experience in relevant thematic areas (care economy, women’s leadership and gender responsive governance);
  • Experience with a broad array of stakeholders;
  • Previous experience with policy research, programmatic work, and technical advisory services related to gender equality.
