Role purpose
The opportunity exists for a talented and passionate Senior Policy and Project Officer to join the Office for Women (OFW). You will play a vital role in a time-limited project team to implement Victoria’s role as host city of the Women Deliver 2026 Conference. The Women Deliver conference is one of the largest and most significant gender equality events in the world, the next conference will be hosted in Melbourne on behalf of the entirety of the Oceanic Pacific region in April 2026.
In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to advance your public service career and apply your outstanding stakeholder engagement, project design and implementation, policy, and communications skills within a supportive environment. You will be driving work to improve outcomes for women and girls in the Pacific region and across the world.

You will support overall coordination of OfW’s role in delivering the conference and work closely with project partners in and out of government to help deliver and update a governance approach and engagement strategy, including a range of events, activities and communications. The successful candidate will approach this work with a strong working understanding of the Victorian gender equality policy context and contribute to the project’s focus on diversity, genuine inclusion, accessibility and self-determination for stakeholders. There will be significant opportunities to engage across the government and the community.

The role requires a proactive self-starter with an ability to work in a complex and fast-paced environment, with experience working across government including with the Commonwealth Government and with a diverse group of external partners and stakeholders, including both domestic and international organisations.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong policy, analytical, problem solving, organisation and communication skills coupled with an ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders and work effectively in a blended team environment. Experience in project management and international development will be a strong advantage
