Introduction
The Graça Machel Trust (GMT) was established in 2010 as a Pan-African institution, whose mission is to amplify women’s movements, influence governance, and promote women’s contributions and leadership in the economic, social, and political development of Africa and, advocate for the promotion and protection of children’s rights and dignity. Drawing on our Founder, Mrs. Graça Machel’s life’s work as a liberation fighter for political freedom in Africa, advocate, global activist for the rights of children and women, and SDG champion, the Trust’s mandate is to build movements to drive transformative change that uplifts women and children.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and Program Support
Coordination and Program Support
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of adolescent movement activities across various Nests, countries and regions.
- Assist with organizing hybrid (virtual and in-person) events, workshops, and training sessions.
- Liaise with adolescent participants, Nurturing Eagles, and local partners to ensure effective communication and engagement.
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and reports related to program activities, attendance, and outcomes.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, events logistical arrangements, preparing agendas, and documenting minutes.
- Participate in all Adolescent Program related briefing
Communications Support
- Assist with capturing content, drafting and disseminating social media content, and basic reports on movement activities.
- Support the creation of promotional materials, including flyers, posters, and presentations.
- Manage and update communication channels, including email lists and WhatsApp groups, to ensure timely information sharing.
- Collaborate with the communications team to collect and share stories, testimonials, and impact reports from adolescent participants.
Digital Learning Management System (LMS) Support
- Assist with managing the movement’s digital learning platforms (LMS), including uploading and organizing curriculum content.
- Provide basic troubleshooting support for users navigating the LMS.
- Track and report on learner progress and engagement within the digital platform.
Stakeholder and Partner Engagement
- Strengthen and nurture relationships with key national stakeholders, including local partners, facilitators, and Allies and Advocates supporting adolescent movement initiatives.
- Support coordination efforts between various Nests and ensure the alignment of activities across regions.
- Assist with reporting and documentation required for partnerships and funding opportunities.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- In collaboration with the GMT MERL collect and compile data on program participation, impact, and feedback from adolescent girls.
- Support the development of progress reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in analyzing program effectiveness and recommending improvements based on data insights.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Education, International Development, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in program coordination, youth development, communications, or digital learning management.
- Familiarity with adolescent empowerment, gender advocacy, and rights-based programming.
- Experience using digital Learning Management Systems (LMS) or willingness to learn.
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Passion for working with and supporting adolescent girls in leadership and self-actualization.
