Purpose and Scope of Assignment
• The consultant will assist in reviewing the draft and final version of the ‘Gender responsive Biennial Transparency Reports Toolkit’.
This task includes:
o Coordination of regular virtual meetings with partners and contributors of the ‘Gender responsive Biennial Transparency Reports Toolkit’. o Assistance in other project-related management activities, referring to this toolkit.
o Provide internal assistance in the review of the final version of the product, considering formal and textual aspects.
• The consultant will also support the coordination of the process and contribution to the knowledge product creation on successful and sustainable international MRV systems, including
o A thorough analysis of success factors and the enabling environment for effective and consistent MRV systems.
o Conducting research on good practice examples, which will be highlighted in the knowledge product. This process might include interviewing countries who implemented exemplary MRV and data systems.
o Analysing potential challenges, faced by countries, to implement an accurate and effective MRV system.
• Finally, the consultant will also cover:
o Preparing a draft of the above-mentioned knowledge product on MRV systems. The review process will be coordinated by UNEP CCC.
Outputs:
Product No. 1 a. Report summarizing the review of final version of the ‘Gender responsive Biennial Transparency Reports Toolkit’. This should include the CBIT-GSP’s inputs received from internal and external reviewers. The review process will be coordinated by UNEP CCC
Product No. 2 b. Thematic analysis and synthesis report draft of the guide on establishing sustainable MRV systems.
Product No. 3 c. Draft of the guide on establishing sustainable MRV systems including good practices and exemplary country cases.

Qualifications
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in economics, climate change, international affairs, development studies, political science, or related areas. A first-level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and two years of additional experience related to the nature of the position may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. Minimum 1 year of experience (or more depending on academic credentials) in working on policy analysis, academic research and climate change topics.
Required skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of gender issues within climate change.
• Demonstrated knowledge of climate policy impacts and policy analysis.
• Demonstrated work experience in climate transparency topics and reporting guidelines.
• Excellent (fluency) verbal and written communication in English language.
