Project Background
The ‘European Union Communication and Visibility in Egypt’ project supports the EU Delegation in Egypt in effectively communicating the EU-Egypt partnership. By raising awareness about this partnership and increasing EU visibility, the project aims to foster a better understanding of the EU-Egypt relationship, enhance the visibility of the European Union, and improve the perception of EU programmes in Egypt.
Scope of Work
The Gender and Communication expert will be responsible, but not necessarily limited, for the implementation of the following tasks. Exact tasks will be coordinated with the TL:
Narrative development
- Develop a gender narrative on our EU partnerships that can be communicated (in coordination with EU Delegation staff and implementing partners).
- Development of strategic concepts of events and Women-related exhibitions and initiatives, including the development and follow up of action plans for these events/initiatives
- Development/narration/review of gender social media campaigns with a focus on Women empowerment.
Event implementation
- Implementation of key events on women empowerment and coordinate with NKE Event manager (including support to conceptualisation, implementation, interface with partners)
- Create a detailed timeline and work plan for each event, including key milestones, deadlines, and deliverables as well as relevant budgets.
- Propose creative ideas for events that will effectively communicate key messages about the EU-Egypt partnership.
- In coordination with NKEs (Videographers and Digital Storyteller), to support the conceptualisation of videos, including script writing, follow-up on execution with partners to gain narratives and review of production.
- Organisation of the Aswan film festival (including planning concept, support to execution of key activities, reception, development of the festival’s communication plan).
Content development:
- Development of scripts for EU presence in sessions/workshops with EU high-level presence
- Drafting relevant social media, in coordination with NKE social media and drafting of press releases.
- Conceptualisation and follow up of the EU action plan for International Women's Day in March and the 16 days of Activism campaign in November among other commitments/international days to which the EU is adhering.
Duration of Assignment
The assignment will commence in February 2025 and last for one year and could be extended. Upon satisfactory performance until May 2027.
Total number of Expert Days : 60 man-days
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in gender issues, communication and event management, preferably in the context of international development projects and/or communication or awareness raising campaigns.
- Fluency in both Arabic and good command of English
- Excellent communication, organisational, time management, and multitasking skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
