Position Summary

This consultancy position is responsible for reviewing and coding grant details for inclusion in a larger data set, drawing from directly submitted data and a number of external databases. The position supports the development of the Global Resources Report: Government & Philanthropic Support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex Communities, GPP’s biennial report which tracks and documents global government and philanthropic support for LGBTI communities.This position is part of a team which reviews and codes over 10,000 individual grants. GPP will bring on two Coding Assistants for this report period. 


About Global Philanthropy Project (GPP)

GPP is a collaboration of funders and philanthropic advisors working to expand global philanthropic support to advance the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people in the Global South and East. 

GPP is a key source of strategic research and analysis for global LGBTI funders, and plays a central role in convening philanthropists and human rights activists in donor pre-conferences during regional LGBTI convenings, funder webinars, and other events. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Receive training on the specific project methodology.
  • Analyze and code a variety of received grant data to the specification of the project dataset. 
  • Access, analyze, and code a variety of grant data from relevant databases to the specification of the project dataset. 
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills & abilities)

  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Knowledge of LGBTI+ social movements
  • Knowledge of social movements outside USA
  • Knowledge of Power BI and Power Pivot is optional but considered a plus.
