About this call

Trans people encounter significant challenges in receiving trans-specific healthcare which is accessible, affordable, respectful, and of high quality. Trans youth encounter even greater barriers, such as restrictive laws that limit or prohibit gender-affirming care for minors, healthcare providers taking adult-centric approaches, discrimination, lack of knowledge, and inadequate support from family and social networks. To begin to create change we are looking for a consultant who can conduct qualitative research to explore the experiences of trans youth in accessing this essential care.

About IGLYO

We, IGLYO — The International Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans, Queer and Intersex Youth and Student Organisation, are the leading youth development and leadership organisation working with LGBTQI young activists. With over 115 Member Organisations situated in 40 countries in the Council of Europe region, we unite a great variety of individual and community experiences. You can learn more about IGLYO at www.iglyo.org.

Research goals

Trans people encounter significant challenges in receiving trans-specific healthcare which is accessible, affordable, respectful, and of high quality. Trans youth encounter even greater barriers, such as restrictive laws that limit or prohibit gender-affirming care for minors, healthcare providers taking adult-centric approaches, discrimination, lack of knowledge, and inadequate support from family and social networks.

To aid us in receiving input from our members working on this topic and building up a position paper on the needs of trans-specific healthcare for young people, we are looking for a consultant who can conduct qualitative research.

  • Assess the needs of, and the barriers experienced by, trans youth trying in accessing trans-pacific healthcare;
  • Meet with IGLYO’s members and partners, as well as with other potential relevant stakeholders;
  • Provide recommendations for policymakers and service providers;
  • Identify best practices in this area that could serve as inspiration;
  • Build a position paper that can be discussed with IGLYO’s membership.

  4. Transcriptions of all the research methods
