Gender-based violence (GBV)

Major Responsibilities:
Training and Technical Support
- Design, coordinate and deliver training on gender-based violence (GBV) and related issues to project beneficiaries and conduct training of trainers (TOT) for local NGOs, CBOs, community leaders and civil society organizations (CSO), who are working with GBV survivors.
- Deliver training on healthy communication and maintaining positive relationships to couples in the refugee camps and implement training activities in partnerships with relevant community-based organizations.
- Deliver trainings focusing on men engagement in promoting gender equality and behavior change to targeted men and boys from targeted community by collaborating with local community based organizations and community leaders.
- Conduct Training of Trainers and implement systematic training observations and constructive feedback mechanisms for camp-based staff.
- Develop training materials, community awareness-raising materials and other educational materials as necessary based on the project design and objectives.
- Monitor training outcomes through baseline surveys, pre- and post-tests, and follow-up interviews, and continually reflect on training experiences and monitoring data to improve future training.
- Translate training materials into English, Karen, and Burmese and vice versa ensure training documents are current and up to date.
- Provide support to the development and implementation of strategies for community outreach activities.
- Strengthen the capacity of community-based actors, local NGOs and CSOs on service provision to survivors of gender-based violence and ensure a comprehensive and multi-sectoral response for survivors.
Program Support and Administration
- Collect information/data relating activities under this position including data necessary for project indicators as well as record on the successes and challenges and report the progress of the project at regular intervals to the Senior WPE Program Manager.
- Organize regular coordination meeting with partners to identify challenges faced by women and girls and develop mitigation plan.
- Assist in preparing monthly activity plans together with all other project staff in order to ensure close integration of project activities.
- Complete all administrative work and timely submit reports related to training and outreach activities.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Social Science or High School diploma or post-10 certificate required, coupled with a strong interest in refugees and related issues.
- Experience in training design and conducting training, including Training of Trainers, and proficient in using participatory methods.
- Experience in GBV work, including working with men for the behavior change related programming.
- Experience in translation of written documents and administrative work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Flexible and willing to learn and develop.
- Strong written and spoken Karen, Burmese and Thai is essential.
