Background
Search for Common Ground’s (Search) mission is to transform the way individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict, away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct an in-depth gender analysis of the economic, legal, political, and social situation and challenges in Mozambique and also conduct an in-depth sectoral gender analysis
- Provide technical support for staff and consultants working on GESI mainstreaming
- Implement the FCDO program Work Plan in alignment of the Country Programme on Mainstreaming GESI
Support a process of reflective assessment and adjustment of programme implementation to ensure strategic flexibility:
1.Provide input into planning of new activities, including identification of new target related initiatives
2.Prepare reporting needs related to the Programme
3.Contribute to preparation of relevant training materials
4.Contribute to knowledge management activities and documents related to GESI
Provide support on establishing institutional partnerships and institutional capacity for mainstreaming GESI to the government:

1. Support the implementation of partnership agreements with Government of Mozambique/Tanzania
2. Assist in developing training designs as per training needs assessments
3. Ensure relevance of mainstreaming GESI through periodic reviews and adjustments
Develop initial technical capacity on GESI in civil societies organizations, government ministries/ commissions through:
1. Take leadership in initiating Training of Trainers to key personnel in each government ministry or commission
2 .Develop and produce publication of country-specific training modules in local languages
3. Conduct periodical review and adjustment of training methodology training modules
Provide technical expertise, as part of the project Team, to mainstream GESI approaches into key consortium-wide organizational mechanisms, processes and procedures:

1. Review policy and procedures to mainstream conflict sensitivity
2. Analyze organizational mandates to inform internal advocacy and familiarization
3. Review related project-wide policy and procedures to ensure that conflict- sensitive principles are integrated and implemented
Establish organizational accountability measures for conflict-sensitive programming by:
1. Provide technical support to embed internal accountability mechanisms in agencies, programs and projects
2. Support introduction of public accountability mechanisms in programme cycles
3. Introduce GESI into corporate literature, language and communications, and strengthen external partnerships
Education and Experience
- BS/BA in Peace and Conflict studies, Gender and Women and Inclusivity studies, International Development, Law or relevant field with a minimum of 9 years’ experience
- Experience managing development programs in an NGO, preferably in a technical area, peace building and/or P/CVE programming
- Experience working in East Africa required. Experience in Mozambique and Tanzania preferred
- Experience managing CSSF-funded programs preferred
- At least three years’ experience directly related to GESI approaches, including experience in mainstreaming these concepts into development programming
- Experience in conflict analysis and experience in applying such analysis to local contexts
- Good understanding of peace processes, and the political, social and economic aspects of peacebuilding and development efforts
- Direct experience in the design and/or implementation of development programs
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Portuguese or Kiswahili
