Background
The AfricaNenda Foundation is an African-led organization created to accelerate the growth of inclusive instant payment systems (IIPS) that will benefit all Africans, including the poorest and currently financially excluded. AfricaNenda believes that IIPS can be pivotal in creating universal access to financial services for many financially excluded adults in Africa by 2030.
The Role
This role shall be under the guidance of the Deputy CEO’s office and with a dotted line to the Chief Operations Officer. The Gender M&E Specialist will provide leadership in the establishment of a robust Monitoring and Evaluation system that would contribute to the development of an excellent mechanism for impact assessment of project outputs and document the significant outcomes that has influenced the project’s beneficiaries as well as stakeholders. The main focus of the Gender M&E Specialist will be ensuring the effectiveness, transparency and accountability of the project’s activities. The Gender M&E Specialist will work in close collaboration with the project teams at the AfricaNenda foundation.
Key Roles and responsibilities
• Development of a solid Monitoring and Evaluation system for capturing the impact of AfricaNenda Foundation’s projects and the different interventions in terms of Gender.
• Facilitate the implementation of the M&E system of the project including an efficient and effective flow of information as well as the synergy and partnership of all stakeholders involved so as to support the development of gender-sensitive tools and resources to facilitate knowledge sharing and learning.
• Contribute to the project’s evaluation, reviews and project knowledge production for informed decision making;
• Develop a solid Monitoring and Evaluation system for capturing the impact of the project’s different interventions:
• Provide technical guidance, resources, and tools on integrating gender in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the ANF programs and activities.
• Stay up to date with current trends, best practices, and emerging issues in the field of gender, Monitoring and Evaluation.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Master’s degree in development studies, (international development), Gender studies, Social Sciences or Statistical Studies. Monitoring and Evaluation and Project Management training shall be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional working experience in international development especially in the area of monitoring and evaluation from a gender perspective; working with learning and capacity development initiatives preferably with emphasis on impact assessment on women.
• Experience of working in the field of reporting and monitoring to include experience in developing plans, tracking results, reporting to different constituencies. Monitoring experience in the NGO context highly desirable;
• Experience in results-based management (RBM) is an added advantage.
• Knowledge and understanding of public sector institutional capacity development requirements.
• Knowledge of the gender policy framework is an advantage
• Excellent computer/information systems skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to present coherent and convincing strategic analysis; French shall be an added advantage.
