Background
Christian Aid, under  the Ireland’s Civil Society Partnership (ICSP), is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of citizens and partner agencies. Objective 4 of the program, focusing on Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Building, aims to empower smallholder farmers to withstand climaterelated shocks, enhance resilience through smart agricultural practices, and advocate for responsive duty bearers. Climate change disproportionately impacts marginalized communities, with gender, socio-economic status, and geographical location significantly influencing vulnerability and resilience levels. An intersectional feminist perspective is essential for comprehending and mitigating the varied effects of climate change on individuals with intersecting identities and multiple vulnerabilities.

Objective
This consultancy seeks to explore the impact of intersecting factors, including gender, socioeconomic status, and geographical location, on the efficacy of climate change adaptation measures, with the goal of developing gender-sensitive climate adaptation strategies.

Scope of Work
1. Conduct a feminist literature review to explore existing research on intersectionality, climate change adaptation, and gender disparities.
2. Engage with marginalized communities to gather qualitative data on their experiences with climate change impacts and adaptation strategies.
3. Analyse the data collected through an intersectional feminist framework to identify patterns and challenges related to gender, socio-economic status, and geographical location in climate adaptation.
4. Develop recommendations for inclusive and gender-responsive climate change adaptation policies and practices.

Deliverables
1. Inception report outlining the feminist methodology, work plan, and data collection approach.
2. Intersectional analysis report highlighting the findings on the role of gender, socio-economic status, and geographical location in climate change adaptation.
3. Recommendations for gender-responsive climate adaptation strategies.
4. Presentation of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a workshop or presentation.

Qualifications
• Strong background in feminist theory, intersectionality, and climate change.
• Experience in conducting research on gender disparities, socio-economic factors, and climate resilience.
• Proficiency in feminist research methodologies and intersectional analysis.
• Ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders in a sensitive and inclusive manner.
