Peace and Security
The Project Officer will play an integral role in the administration and management of GIWPS’ activities related to the US Department of State’s WPS Centers of Excellence Initiative. This initiative supports host governments in Colombia, Kosovo, and the Philippines to establish virtual hubs of expertise for advancing the WPS agenda at local, national, regional, and international levels. In each of these countries, GIWPS is working with government partners, civil society, women leaders, and researchers to promote meaningful, sustainable progress in implementing all four pillars of UNSCR 1325 through a variety of activities. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Project Management
  • Support the development and implementation of activities outlined in annual workplan in coordination with S/GWI, host governments, civil society leaders, and researchers.
  • Ensure project activities are implemented in a timely manner and in accordance with MEL processes.
  • Engage in regular consultations with project partners to facilitate impactful project activities, coordinating with GIWPS staff as needed to support project activities.
  • Support GIWPS engagement at WPS Centers events and activities, including traveling to host countries and regions as needed. 
  • Provide Brief Institute leadership on project developments and advise on opportunities, relationships, and activities that could advance project goals.
  • Coordinate annual updates to country GESI’s and suggest adjustments to project activities as needed.
  • Work with Communications Team and project partners to ensure GIWPS’ WPS Centers webpage is up-to-date and showcases project activities and impact.
Grant Management
  • Ensure all grant activities are executed in compliance with 2 CFR 200.
  • Work with the project lead to draft quarterly progress reports and PITT reporting and ensure that project milestones and deadlines are being met.
  • Identify and document “success stories” that can be shared with GIWPS and partners to capture project impact.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to ensure project spending is aligned with budget and compliant with federal regulations.
  • Work with the project lead and MEL consultant to adjust activities, targets, and workplan as needed.
  • Engage in monthly sync meetings with S/GWI and other coordination activities as needed.
Relationship Management
  • Work with GIWPS staff and leadership to identify relevant stakeholders in WPS Center host countries and regions.
  • Support efforts to foster partnerships with key stakeholders to advance project goals and activities.
  • Liaise with host governments and USG to coordinate implementation efforts.
  • Keep GIWPS informed of the political environment and global issues impacting WPS Center host countries and regions by regularly meeting with government POCs, women leaders, civil society, and researchers.
  • Serve as a working-level point of contact for the project and facilitate communication among project partners.
