Background
The Initiative for Gender Equality and Sexual Reproductive Health (IGE-SRH) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Lead (Programs/Advocacy) to manage a key economic empowerment initiative for LGBTQI individuals in Nigeria. This project, in partnership with the Economic Empowerment Working Group (EEWG) under the Free To Be Me program, focuses on advancing the economic inclusion and empowerment of LGBTQI individuals through targeted advocacy, capacity building, and collaboration with key stakeholders, both nationally and internationally.
Position Overview
The Project Lead will oversee the design, planning, and execution of project activities aimed at promoting economic empowerment and social inclusion for LGBTQI communities in Nigeria. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on human rights or economic development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project activities, ensuring successful implementation of objectives within the given timeline.
- Develop and coordinate advocacy strategies to promote LGBTQI economic inclusion.
- Build and maintain relationships with national and international stakeholders, including private sector and multilateral organizations.
- Oversee capacity-building efforts for LGBTQI leaders and organizations, including training and technical support.
- Manage project monitoring, reporting, and communication with donors and partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, or related field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management or advocacy within the LGBTQI, human rights, or economic development sector.
- Demonstrated experience leading advocacy campaigns and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with the economic challenges facing LGBTQI communities in Nigeria.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of LGBTQI+ issues and the socio-economic context in Nigeria.
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct research and analyze policy documents.
- Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite/ Google Workspace.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
