Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
Social Inclusion Advisor
Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Social Inclusion Advisor for its five-year program in the Kyrgyz Republic funded by USAID. The purpose of the planned activity is to increase citizen engagement and civil society resilience, as well as support citizen priorities and initiatives. ly.
The Social Inclusion Advisor will be primarily responsible for providing leadership across all interventions of the Activity to ensure DI is reaching women, people with disabilities, youth, elderly, and marginalized minorities. The Advisor will oversee activities related to GBV, gender integration, and social inclusion, and will lead ongoing gender analysis and advise on ways to bridge gender gaps across the gender spectrum in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Essential Job Duties:
The position’s responsibilities will include:
- Participate in development and implementation of all interventions from a social inclusion perspective;
- Work across the team to identify how gender considerations will be integrated into all aspects of program implementation, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning;
- Ensure that the project is applying the “Do No Harm” principle, proactively identifying risks and unintended consequences for marginalized communities;
- Support ongoing discrimination analysis and develop tools to effectively integrate gender equality and social inclusion principles into activity objectives and strategies, work plans, MEL plan, and more.
- Develop and contribute to regular reports and ongoing activity monitoring consistent with the requirements of DI’s contract with USAID and with internal reporting requirements;
- Coordinate, collaborate, and learn from other programs focused on gender equality and social inclusion issues.
Secondary Job Duties:
- Contribute to ongoing Democracy International business development efforts, in the Kyrgyz Republic and around the world.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, in social sciences such as international development, gender studies, social work, public policy, human rights or other areas directly related to providing services to vulnerable populations, or equivalent experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in the field of gender equality and social inclusion.
- Experience mainstreaming gender equality and women’s empowerment issues within civil society strengthening initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to research and analyze state policies and legislation and make recommendations for improvement to relevant stakeholders;
- Sound understanding of Kyrgyz development needs and marginalized groups.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop excellent relations with Kyrgyz counterparts and donor representatives.
- Previous experience working with international development implementing partners is strongly preferred.
- Professional fluency in English and Kyrgyz and/or Russian (both spoken and written) required.
