Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is an International Non-Governmental Organization involved in humanitarian, relief and long-term development cooperation in Sudan. NPA Sudan wishes to recruit a highly competent, proactive and self-driven individuals for the position of GE & SGBV Programme Specialist that will spend time working with both our development and humanitarian programmes in Sudan.
Duties and Responsibilities
Gender Equality, Empowerment of Women and Girls and SGBV Advisory:
- Technical advisory on all issues related to GEEWG and SGBV across departments of the NPA Sudan Country Office.
- Support partners to strengthen their strategic engagement and contribute to advocacy on the policies, strategies and laws that promote GEEWG, Women’s Rights and SGBV at all levels.
- Network with civil society organisations, UN agencies and other stakeholders, and representing NPA at meetings related to GEEWG, Women’s Rights and SGBV issues.
- Strengthen the capacity of NPA staff and partners on GEEWG, Women’s Rights and SGBV
- Support mainstreaming GEEWG in NPA’s programs and organizational structures.
- Support NPA’s communications, advocacy and awareness raising activities on GEEWG, Women’s Rights and SGBV, in close coordination with the CD.
- Support, monitor compliance and proactively contribute to advancing the implementation of NPA’s Gender Equality Policy in Sudan CO.
Programme Coordination:
- Provide project management support to a portfolio of women led organizations and partners.
- Draft project reports and support in proposal development.
- Document and share project results, good practices and lessons learned
- Support supervision of project officers.
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- University degree in gender studies, social work, community development, social science, development studies or other relevant degree. A Diploma or Masters’ degree in Gender Studies is an asset. Technical training on SGBV is an asset (demonstrable with certificates).
- At least 3 years of demonstrable professional experience leading technical aspects of Gender Equality, Women and Girls Empowerment, Women’s Rights and/or SGBV work in emergency and/or developmental settings.
- Strong project management and report writing skills.
- At least three (3) years’ experience working with an NGO in Sudan.
- Experience and knowledge of civil society development and engagement in Sudan.
- Excellent understanding of Project Cycle Management
- Strong organizing, coaching and mentoring skills.
- Strong team working, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural team.
- Proficiency in Arabic and English languages and good writing and computer skills.
- Ability to exercise conscience and non-tolerance to corruption and discrimination.
