We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and committed black and minoritised women, who identify as feminists, to join our Board. If you are interested, please see more information about below.  
Remuneration: This role is unremunerated and offered on a voluntary basis. Travel and accommodation expenses are reimbursed for meetings & visits. 
Time commitment: One meeting every 3 months
 
We are seeking four Trustees to join our Board.

ABOUT THE ROLE  
Responsibilities of Board Members  
  • Manage the strategic affairs of the organisation 
  • Ensure that IMKAAN operates within the terms of the constitution and the overall aims and objectives of the organisation 
  • Define the strategic direction and work strategically with Board Members, the Executive Directors and staff  
  • Ensure appropriate risk management policies and procedures are in place and adhered to 
  • Regularly review and address potential risks to the charity’s operations and reputation 
  • Engage in debate and discussion 
  • Establish policies and procedures 
  • Oversee financial management 
  • Safeguard the interests of the organisation 
  • Attend meetings every two months and participate in sub-committees as needed 
  • Support the work of the organisation and staff 
  • Represent the organisation in events and activities 
  • Promote the interests of the organisation 
  • Learn and grow through participation and contribution

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS  
  • Knowledge and experience working on Violence against Women and Girls   
  • Knowledge and experience of women and girls rights, human rights, or social justice  
  • Experience of strategic planning and organisational decision making  
  • Identifies as feminist 
  • Strong understanding of racial justice and anti-blackness 
  • Collaborative  
  • Strong commitment to non-discrimination   
  • Maintains confidentiality  
  • Fosters respectful, open communication and values diverse perspectives
