Gender-based violence (GBV)
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
Main responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader (GBV), the Protection Assistant (GBV) will:
- Provide age-appropriate and survivor-centred GBV Case Management services to women and girls affected by violence, including assessment of survivor’s needs; basic counselling; support to develop and implement a care plan; support to develop and implement a safety plan; and support to access services additional services in line with clients’ wishes.
- Complete and ensure the safe storage of case management documentation, including completing intake forms, referral forms and follow ups.
- Provide safe referrals to health, legal and psychological and other services as required, and provide accompaniment services when requested.
- Facilitate and support PSS activities with women and girls.
- Participate in case conference meetings if required.
- Provide individual protection assistance/emergency cash for protection to meet urgent needs of GBV survivors.
- Conduct outreach activities (including awareness and capacity-building activities) with communities in safe and suitable locations.
- Support assessments to understand the needs of women and girls as required, including leading consultations with women and girls and carrying out interviews with stakeholder.

- Produce quality reports and documentation on activities and ensure their timely submission to the Team Leader for review and internal information sharing.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Team Leader and/or Manager, relevant to the achievement of protection objectives.
Required experience and competencies:
- Commitment to gender equality and interest in working in the prevention and response to violence against women and girls.
- Familiarity with women’s protection or women’s rights such empowerment programmes, reproductive health, counselling etc. is desired but not required.
- Comfortable in speaking about sensitive topics and working with people in distress.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience in Microsoft packages, including Powerpoint and Teams is desirable.
- Knowledge of English is desirable but not required.
- Ukrainian language skills.
