General information

In order to support its Mediation Program, swisspeace is looking for a:
 
Women Engagement and Outreach Adviser, Afghanistan (consultancy)
 
to support peacebuilding programs in Afghanistan, with a particular focus on engagement with Afghan women and civil society actors.
Contractual period: The envisioned number of working days is around 400 days between 1 October 2024 – 31 May 2026. Specifics may be discussed with the swisspeace team in due time.
Your tasks

  • Lead and expand engagement with Afghan women and civil society actors inside and outside of the country
  • Develop, design and implement engagement strategy and opportunities in collaboration with project team
  • Lead/and or contribute to research and knowledge products and gender and inclusion analyses
  • Provide strategic and operational advice on women’s inclusion and gender quality and participate in regular team meetings
  • Any other relevant tasks 
The detailed tasks will be initiated and requested by the supervisor or their designated representative at swisspeace. The contact person for this mandate at swisspeace is Kathrin Däpp, Senior Program Officer in the Thematic Program Mediation.
Your profile

  • Applicants must either be registered as freelancers/self-employed in their countries of residence or have a valid Swiss work permit
  • In-depth contextual knowledge and expertise on Afghanistan 
  • Extensive network with diverse range of Afghan women and civil society actors
  • Experience designing and implementing engagement and outreach strategies in politically sensitive environments
  • Experience conducting research and developing knowledge and policy products 
  • Experience facilitating workshops, trainings and dialogue processes 
  • Excellent command of English, fluency in Dari and/or Pashto
