Job Summary
The Gender Analyst will mainly be responsible for:
  1. Providing technical support to the Gender Equality Program team
  2. Integrating gender mainstreaming at all stages in ACET portfolios
  3. Networking and coordination
  4. Knowledge management and knowledge sharing
 
Roles and Responsibilities
Gender Mainstreaming in ACET portfolios
  • Develop specific gender mainstreaming strategies for the different ACET portfolios
  • Develop institutional gender mainstreaming policies for current and future ACET portfolios
  • Advocate for gender informed economic policies across the African continent.
  • Mainstream gender issues at all stages of the project cycle, from planning to monitoring and evaluation.
  • Assist in the inclusion of gender in all programs/projects or any related activities, ensuring gender balance in project staff teams, training, and beneficiaries.
Research and Policy Analysis on critical gender issues in economic policy
  • Develop research papers and outputs on selected topics/ areas in selected geographical areas across the African continent. Topics include, the care sector, women and green transition, women’s representation and positive economic outcomes.
  • Conduct research and analysis within GEP and in partnership with other programs and institutions.
  • Develop research and activities that promote accountability for Gender Equality in Economic Policy.
  • Implement a peer learning platform for the different governments and stakeholders to learn from each other and support implementation through the sharing of good practice and models for navigating challenges.
  • Support the development and launch of the ACET Gender scorecard with data from 2024, 2025, and 2026 to keep the momentum and facilitate continued progress in women’s financial and economic inclusion.
Network and Coordination
  • Liaise with key national and internationals stakeholders, key domestic political and civic actors, civil society organizations, international NGOs, ACET partners and donors in the region to facilitate and enhance contribution towards the implementation of the gender equality agenda.
  • Attend and represent ACET at conferences and seminars as directed by the Head of Gender.
 
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Gender Studies, International Development, Public Policy, Economics or closely related discipline
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience working on gender and social inclusion in the development space
  • Experience with gender sensitive budgeting and mainstreaming measures in economic policy
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good knowledge and understanding of regional social issues, analysis and policy formulation; knowledge of the practices of major bilateral and multilateral partner development agencies in African countries is an added advantage
  • Strong communication (oral and written), analytical, report writing, and presentation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to build effective working relationships in a diverse multicultural environment
  • Good organization skills collaborating with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and capacity to perform in complex situations
  • Good project management skills
 
Desirable
  • Broad understanding of the international development system
  • Experience of working effectively within a complex organizational structure
  • Working knowledge of French
