About Us:

FrontlineEndingFGM, a key initiative under the Global Media Campaign to End FGM, is dedicated to eradicating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and gender-based violence across Africa. We are currently seeking an experienced FGM/Gender Consultant to join our team in collaboration with the German development agency, GIZ

Position Overview:

This role involves primarily remote work, with occasional travel required to Ethiopia and Somaliland. The consultant will play a critical role in supporting grassroots organisations and working with government departments in FGM-practicing countries.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

Capacity Building: Assisting small, grassroots organisations in Africa to enhance their capabilities and sustainability.
Government Engagement: Collaborating with government departments in African countries where FGM is practiced to influence policy and drive change.
Intergenerational Programming: Developing and implementing programs that bring together different generations to combat gender-based violence.
Organisational Assessment: Conducting thorough assessments of local organisations and providing expert advice and mentorship on raising awareness of FGM and gender-based violence.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in FGM and gender-based violence consultancy.
Proven success in working with grassroots organizations in Africa.
Strong experience in engaging with government agencies in regions where FGM is prevalent.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement intergenerational programs focused on ending gender-based violence.
