Background:
The African Queer Youth Initiative (AQYI) is a youth-led organization comprising diverse queer youth activists dedicated to mobilizing, supporting, and amplifying the voices of LGBT+ youths in Africa. AQYI aims to build visibility, strategic networks and advocate for the rights of LGBTQI+ youth in African countries.
To further our objective of spotlighting relevant issues within our queer communities in Africa, we are seeking a research consultant to provide short-term support in leading our research in understanding the needs and gaps of LGBTQI+ organizations in these African Countries with the aim to provide insights into the challenges and barriers they encounter in these area with recommendations to address the identified challenges in these regions.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
We would like to do a research on service mapping of LGBTQI+ Organizations in Burundi, Burkina Faso and Nigeria and conduct a thorough assessment of each country's remote and hybrid working, telehealth service provision and cyber security factors affecting their work.  The assessment will help us identify the key differences, similarities and challenges in each country as well as gaps in service provision and areas of intervention . The researcher will be responsible for:
-Developing a research methodology and data collection tools (questionnaires, surveys, interviews,  etc.) appropriate for capturing the needs, gaps, barriers in these selected countries.
-Conducting interviews and surveys with key stakeholders, including local queer organizations and community members. 
-Identifying existing Telehealth service providers, the types of services they provide and their referral pathways along with quality of services.
-Conducting an assessment to identify the existing nature of remote and hybrid working environment, cyber security awareness, risks, needs and gaps as well as recommended interventions and support to be provided.
-Summary and analysis of collected qualitative and quantitative data, key findings, challenges, and recommendations.
-Report with recommendations for support initiatives and capacity development.

Required Qualification and Experience:
We seek an enthusiastic and innovative, researcher with a medical/healthcare education background and experience in Baseline assessment, needs assessment, capacity building, data analysis and health informatics. The researcher should be familiar with or have experience working in the African LGBTQI+ context and have a neutral and open-minded attitude toward the community in all their diversities and intersections.

Minimum qualifications:
-Experience working with Civil Society Organizations, INGOs and marginalized groups of people. 
-Demonstrated experience in research and analysis, preferably related to healthcare system, sexual and reproductive health rights. 
-Familiarity with the challenges faced by African LGBT+ Organizations regarding remote work and telehealth service provision gaps.  
-Knowledge of relevant literature, reports, and resources related to LGBTQI+ Organization issues in Africa.
-Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise and actionable recommendations.
-Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and effectively communicate research findings. 
-Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating high levels of personal integrity, professional credibility and the ability to maintain confidentiality. 
-French and English speaker.
