We are a nimble and highly impactful team that continues to grow and evolve. We work with a broad range of organizations, researchers, and advocates to drive change.


Responsibilities and Duties
Communications strategy (10%)
  • Work closely with the Communications Director and other leaders to update the long-term organizational Communications vision and strategy.
  • Maintain current plans and lead the development of new Communications plans and protocols to advance the Together for Girls brand identity; enhance the profile and reputation of the team; and increase the visibility of our priorities across key audiences.
  • Translate the strategy into a prioritized work plan and support the communications team in developing strategic KPIs.
  • Ensure cross-team collaboration and coordination to promote Together for Girls’ key messages and initiatives.

Team Development/Management (10%)
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality, trustworthiness and collaboration.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.

Media relations (20%)
  • Help oversee the organization’s press outreach, editing press releases, statements and op-eds as needed.
  • Provide real-time crisis communications support as needed.
  • Introduce best practices and refine existing processes and procedures that expand the capacity of the department to proactively meet the communications-related demands of the Together for Girls initiatives.

Project management (35%)
  • Managing communications-focused TfG projects and grants to ensure cohesion across communications channels.
  • Serve as project lead for several key initiatives within the Together for Girls portfolio and/or manage communications-specific budgets for grants and track deliverables.
  • Assist in budget preparation; develop budget recommendations; review expenses against budget; control budget expenditures.

Content creation (15%)
  • Manage ongoing creation, design, and translation of materials working in collaboration with external suppliers.
  • Development of other written and visual content as required.

Support to the Director of Communications (10%)
  • Work closely and collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure
    strategies are aligned across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields and a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, media, or public relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in securing media coverage to further organizational goals.
  • Existing portfolio of media contacts.
  • Experience in managing and supporting the development of colleagues.
  • Undergraduate/Bachelor’s Degree
  • Be a self-starter with strong project management skills and the ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment managing multiple deadlines.
  • Possess superior interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a highly collaborative team environment, coordinating between leadership, press, the communications team and programmatic colleagues.
  • Excellent English language skills.
