Accountabilities (duties):
• To be a visible point of contact around the academy and provide advice and guidance, including at times of incident crisis, to Academy staff.
• Work hours in line with the Academy schedule, including regular evenings and weekends.
• To promote and ensure that staff understand that safeguarding all children, young people, and adults at risk in the Academy and Club more broadly is everyone’s responsibility.
• To lead and provide guidance to other staff on responses to safeguarding issues or concerns that are raised within the Academy, Training Ground and women’s team.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records on all safeguarding incidents, concerns, or allegations.
• Manage the MY CONCERN safeguarding system for the Academy and Training Ground.
• To lead or assist the Head of Safeguarding and Inclusion (HOS&I) and HR with any investigations including (but not limited to) working with the LADO, FA Safeguarding Team, Premier League and any other statutory or regulatory authorities. • Be actively involved in the different age groups/phases Multidisciplinary Team Meeting (MDT) process, providing expert safeguarding advice to the members to the support players.
• Be actively involved in the AMT meeting process, providing expert safeguarding and welfare advice to the members to the support players and staff.
• To lead support plans for players where there are safeguarding concerns or complex needs as part of the MDT.
• To assist in the preparation, approval and quality assurance of the Safeguarding element of risk assessments completed regarding activities, trips, and tours within the Academy.
• Support the Quality Assurance of the Academy processes and input to ensure that the EPPP is delivered to a high standard and is compliant with the EPPP agenda.
• Work with the HOS&I, HR, and DSOs to support safer recruitment processes and to ensure robust induction, and review processes where appropriate, for all staff.
• To provide supervision support to the Designated Safeguarding Officers (DSOs) in the Academy Safeguarding Structure.
• To manage/oversee the Host Family programme and fulfilment of support, training, and monitoring visits, including compliance with safeguarding standards (3.6) and reporting to HOS&I.
Skills and experience required:
• Relevant and recognized professional safeguarding qualifications and proven experience in a role with extensive safeguarding responsibilities.
• Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and processes.
• Experience in working with statutory agencies and safeguarding partners including MASH, LADO and sporting bodies.
• Experience and knowledge of safeguarding delivery in the elite sports industry and experience in complying with codes of practice, procedures and legislation within the football industry.
• Knowledge of using a case management system (e.g., My Concern) to keep clear, comprehensive records and reports.
• A keen eye for detail, and a track record of prioritising your work and delivering against deadlines.
