DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE
· Support the regional leadership presence within Plan, working with all of Plan’s Country Offices (COs) in the West and Central Africa Region (WACA);
· Catalyse the implementation of Plan’s programmatic and influencing regional priorities Work with Senior Leadership and Human Resources to implement the Global Policy on Gender Equality and Inclusion.
· Support the monitoring of Plan’s Global Policy on Ge Demonstrable knowledge of gender equality, inclusion and young people’s rights, including particular issues with respect to the realization of girls’ rights. Knowledge of the West & Central Africa regional context.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
An inspiring and achievable strategy to guide Plan’s regional work on gender equality and inclusion, built on the best available evidence from internal and external sources, which is widely owned by staff across the region.
· Contribute thought-leadership to support the roll-out and embedding of the Global Policy on Gender Equality and Inclusion,
· Lead a strategic process of self-reflection and benchmarking on gender equality across all offices in the region, coherent with Plan’s Policy on Gender Equality and Inclusion, through the implementation of Plan’s Gender Equality and Inclusion Self-Assessment (GEISA) process.
· Roll-out and leading of the regional gender equality strategy, coherent with Plan’s Global Policy on Gender Equality and Inclusion, which enables Plan’s analysis, policies and programmes to become a centre of excellence on gender equality for the region. Ensure that the process of developing the strategy is highly inclusive, and catalytic, focus on mainstreaming actions, drawing staff together across the region and inspiring them to greater achievements.
Quality assurance of implementation of gender transformative programming and influencing models across WACA countries, ensuring adherence to the Programming and Influencing Approach and the Gender Equality and Inclusion Policy.
· Facilitate the development of regional programme models on girls’ empowerment, masculinities and gender equality, which are implemented across the region, potentially at scale, and maximize Plan’s overall impact on gender equality. Ensure that Country Offices across the region are highly committed to the success of these programmes.
· Ensure that Plan staff have clear understandings and expectations on measures for gender-aware and gender- transformative programmes.
Dealing with Problems:
· The Head of Regional Gender Equality and Inclusion is responsible for influencing and supporting the COs and Regional Office to strengthen their commitments to gender equality with concrete and measurable actions;
· Facilitate and establish the benchmark for gender equality and inclusion across the organization appropriate to the operating contexts in the Region and against the new gender and inclusion policy
