Gender-based violence (GBV) Migration
The PhD  has been allocated to the Gender and Social Change research theme in SERC for the topic "Trauma-Informed and Victim-Centred Practice Responses and Services for Domestic and Family Violence Victims/Survivors from Migrant and Refugee Backgrounds

This research proposal aims to contribute to the development of more effective, trauma-informed, and victim-centred services for women from migrant and refugee backgrounds experiencing Domestic and Family Violence (DFV). The project will involve qualitative research with practitioners and victims/survivors to better understand the opportunities and barriers to responding to DFV among migrant and refugee communities. 

This PhD will be conducted with publication. Internship opportunities with partner organisations will be explored. 

We are looking for a candidate with excellent research, written and engagement skills. This PhD is suitable for graduates in the areas of gender studies, sociology, social work or other related disciplines. Working or research experience in the DFV sector is desirable.


Eligibility
A bachelor degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant discipline awarded with honours. The degree should include a research component comprised of a thesis, other research projects or research methodology courses that constitute at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent). The applicant must have achieved at least a distinction average in the final year; or a master degree that includes a research component comprised of at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent) with an overall distinction average or a master degree without a research component with at least a high distinction average
