Gender-based violence (GBV)
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement, in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon.

Key Responsibilities
Development and Management of Women’s Empowerment & GBV programme

• Design and deliver GBV & Women’s Empowerment programme strategies in accordance with the MAP Emergency Response Strategy for Gaza. 
• Lead in the contextualization of Global GBV Guidance as well as the development of further GBV-related technical documents, SOPs and guidelines.   
• Lead in the development of project design in line with the GBV & Women’s Empowerment strategy 

Driving improvements in programme quality
• In collaboration with MAP Meal Manager, monitor and evaluate programme work to maintain and/or improve the quality, incorporating learning in the programme and ensuring achievement of desired impact.

• Ensure that the Women’s Empowerment & GBV programme is in compliance with the most up-to-date international technical guidelines, donor contractual obligations and that all reporting is of good quality and is done promptly.

Staff Management and Leadership
• Recruit and manage staff as required, ensuring that they have the necessary induction, training and support as required.
• Develop and maintain a healthy environment for the team, coordinating timely discussions on strategic programming issues and guaranteeing that the staff members develop strong relationships with partner organizations and allies
• Work with other managers for the development of a single Gaza programmatic approach with strong synergy between the different thematic areas.
• Ensure professional development of programme staff and local partners and transfer key skills.

Other
• Readiness to work with flexibility and take on additional tasks as may be delegated to meet programmatic objectives. • Perform other programme-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

• Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity, diversity, gender, protection, safety and security, and staff health and wellbeing policies and principles.

Requirements
• Extensive experience from working as a Programme Manager/Technical Specialist in humanitarian and recovery contexts, preferably in the Middle East. 
• Experience working in conflict-affected, complex, insecure and volatile contexts. 
• Proven years of practical experience in the implementation of complex GBV programming, including in emergency contexts. 
• Technical GBV & Women’s Empowerment expertise alongside solid experience in programme implementation and project cycle management, including through local partners. 
• Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal 
• Experience with start-up or expansion of new programmes in a complex humanitarian emergency, with further experience in team capacity building.
