Key responsibilities
Key responsibilities
As the Head of Comms at Chayn, your responsibilities will include:

Designing and implementing a comms strategy
- In line with the objectives set out in our 2023-2025 strategy, you will design an accompanying comms strategy to reach 1 million survivors, including those signing up to Bloom.
- You will improve our SEO ranking.
- You will work with key staff members to highlight specific issues, activities and focus areas to connect them back to the work of growing users, solidarity partnerships, awareness and political and funding goodwill.

Management of all social media platforms
- While this is a senior role, you’re in a department of one 😊 We are looking for someone who is prepared to lead on executing the strategy, building and scheduling posts and maintaining a presence on our social media platforms
- In time we will expect you to make proposals for the sustainable management of our platforms going forward, which could involve working with contractors.

Press and events
- You will build and maintain relationships with media to highlight Chayn’s work.
- You will host events and represent Chayn at public events and in media as required.

Enhancing our movement building
- You will work closely with our Head of Movement Building and CEO to amplify our advocacy and policy work, and position us as thought-leaders on topic such as tech abuse.
- You will ensure consistency and quality in public materials including reports, media releases, op-eds, blogs, web content, videos, photos, fundraising materials etc.

Reporting and monitoring
- You will do reporting into the success of each comms intervention, campaign or activity carried out.

Leadership
- You will provide leadership and management to maximise the contribution of a skilled team;
Your profile
- 7+ years of experience in communications including a minimum of 3 working at a senior level
- Ability to communicate fluently and persuasively in written and spoken English.
- Understanding of the needs of survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault and rape, and the ecosystem of support that they need.
- Strong and relevant media, and communications global contacts and an excellent knowledge of how the global media environment operates.
- Experience of crisis management within communications.
- Experience dealing with legal risks surrounding publications.
- Experience of working in gender-based violence, human rights or tech for good. You must be comfortable in a tech-focused environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including being flexible, adaptable and collaborative. An ability to manage a full and varied workload, and staff team.
- Willingness to travel internationally to represent the organisation and within the UK to meet staff and Board (usually London and Manchester) a few times a year
