About Chayn
Chayn is an award-winning, open-source collective that leverages technology to empower women against violence and oppression so they can live happier and healthier lives. Chayn started in 2013 to provide survivors of abuse with accurate, diverse and accessible information.

Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Operations at Chayn, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the organization’s vision and impact. Reporting to the CEO, your responsibilities include:
  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Provide executive leadership, ensuring alignment with Chayn’s mission, values, and the 2023-2025 strategy and beyond.
    • Work with the CEO to support the development of a strategic plan beyond 2025, subject to Board approval.
  2. Financial Management and Risk Oversight:
    • Manage compliance with UK Charity Commission regulations, local and international funder expectations, GDPR, and other relevant frameworks is essential.
    • Monitor progress toward strategic targets across all areas.
    • Develop and implement a sustainable finance strategy.
    • Diversify revenue streams and analyze risks and benefits of grant and partnership offers.
  3. Board Support and Decision-Making:
    • Provide critical insights to aid Board decision-making.
    • Act on behalf of the Board where a mandate is provided.
    • Produce quarterly executive reports on core activities.
  4. Operational Oversight
Human Resources:
  • Develop a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with our mission and growth objectives.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment where employees feel empowered to contribute their best.
  • Attract the brightest minds by building a strong employer brand and implementing innovative recruitment strategies.
  • Design and oversee development programs that empower employees to reach their full potential and support their career aspirations.
Team Leadership:
  • Manage and empower team members at the ‘Head of’ level.
  • Lead and empower department heads, fostering collaboration across teams to drive organisational success.
  • Champion team cohesion and employee wellbeing to drive retention.

Essential skills
  • Passionate Changemaker: You're a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of intersectionality and a unwavering commitment to social justice. Your empathy and feminist values resonate with Chayn's mission.   • Proven Track Record: You bring 7+ years of experience managing operations and finance in the non-profit sector, ideally within a small to medium-sized organization. Experience with gender-based violence, human rights, or tech for good is a plus.
  • Experience with Financial Modelling and Forecasting: The ability to create financial models and forecasts to predict future financial performance is crucial.
  • Experience with Budgeting and Resource Allocation: The candidate should have a strong understanding of budgeting principles and experience in allocating resources effectively.
  • Grant Management Expertise: You have a proven history of securing and managing grants from diverse public and private funders, including family foundations.
