Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, passionate and experienced Media and Communications Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and disseminate all communication and media resources relating to Iranti’s strategic objectives to support the advocacy work and ensure visibility. The Media and Communications Manager will manage all of Iranti’s media and communications channels and platforms, including mentoring a diverse team of lesbian and bisexual women, intersex, trans, gender-diverse, and Non-binary staff

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, develop, design, produce, and direct media (video, audio, graphics, print, multimedia, and other digital media) projects for Iranti’s media and communication work to help further Iranti’s goals.
  • Oversee all official reporting for Iranti’s media and communications work, including narratives, annual reports, etc.
  • Represent the organization at events, press conferences, and other media engagements, including interviews. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, media, and beyond to have easy access to story placement on national, regional, and global media platforms.
  • Create internal communications protocols and initiatives, oversee the writing and delivery of internal newsletters, collating and overseeing production of monthly external newsletters.
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing and communications campaigns, and monitor and evaluate their success.
  • Manage the media productions, communications budget and other resources effectively.
  • Identify, coordinate and conclude opportunities for funding resources to support the policy advocacy and programmatic agenda.
  • Manage communication and media during times of crisis in order to protect and promote the reputation of the organisation.
  • Foster a positive and an inclusive work environment including the talent management functions, performance management, employee development, employee engagement etc.
Qualifications and Requirements
Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree in media, communications, social media, public relations and/or related field (NQF 7) or 8 years’ experience in a media and communications role/environment.
  • 3 years’ experience in a media and communications role with 2 years’ experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Experience in an LBQTI environment, human rights environment, non-profit organisation.
  • Proficiency in media and communications software and tools
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines and laws in media and communications
  • Proficiency in English and 2 additional local languages
  • Digital media and project management Skills
  • Driver’s license (code 8) and ability to travel globally.
