Introduction
Y+ Global, the global network of young people living with HIV, advocates for the rights of adolescents and youth (AYP) to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. With over 6000 diverse members, we raise our voices and drive change on global, regional, and national advocacy platforms. Our mission is to empower AYP on issues related to HIV, sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), self-care, mental health, and human rights and build their leadership capacity in these spaces.

The UNITED! Movement Project is a three-year (2024-2027) initiative by Y+ Global in collaboration with UNICEF ESARO. It builds on the Ground UP initiative (2021-2023), aiming to strengthen the advocacy efforts of youth-led SRHR and HIV networks in Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA). It seeks to accelerate the youth-led HIV and SRHR movement through capacity-building, advocacy, partnerships, and unity.

Key Responsibilities
The Project Officer will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and implementation of the UNITED! Movement. They will work closely with youth networks, UN agencies, and other partners to achieve the project’s objectives and ensure that all activities are aligned with the project's goals and executed efficiently and effectively.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the UNITED! Movement Project.
  • Coordinate with youth networks, UN agencies, and other partners to ensure collaborative efforts.
  • Oversee the capacity-building activities for youth-led SRHR and HIV networks.
  • Facilitate advocacy campaigns and initiatives to amplify youth-led responses.
  • Oversee the organization's UNITED! Movements’s social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and community engagement.
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies to keep staff and partners informed and engaged.
  • Organise and lead meetings with the project team, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Manage the project budget and ensure financial accountability.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the donor in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage and meet donor requirements, ensuring compliance with UNICEF and partner policies and guidelines.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including partners, donors, and community members.
  • Participate and engage in bi-weekly meetings with the UNITED! Movement core team and any related meetings/events.

Key Deliverables
  • Detailed project implementation plan and timeline.
  • Regular progress reports and updates to donors.
  • Capacity assessments and roadmaps for youth-led networks.
  • Advocacy campaign materials and tools.
  • Social media management.
  • Documentation of linking, sharing, and learning activities.
  • Reports on collaboration efforts and partnership outcomes.
  • Financial reports and budget updates.

Eligibilty and Qualifications
  • A university degree in public health, social sciences, international development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in project management, preferably in SRHR and HIV programs.
  • Knowledge of the ESA region and its SRHR and HIV context is an asset.
  • Proven experience working with youth-led organisations and networks.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
