Gender-based violence (GBV)
Job Context
- AkiDwA is seeking a dedicated and experienced DSGBV Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting migrant women affected by domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence. This role involves program management including financial oversight, comprehensive case management, delivery of information sessions, group facilitation, collaboration and partnerships, networking and attendance at relevant meetings.
Job Responsibility
- 1. Case Management:
- - Provide direct support and advocacy for victims of DSGBV (including historical abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, early/forced marriage, honor-based abuse and corrective sexual assault), ensuring a client-centered and trauma informed approach.
- - Develop and implement individualized support plans.
- - Maintain detailed case records and manage confidential information responsibly.
- 2. Delivery of Information Sessions:
- - Organize and conduct educational sessions on DSGBV including the law in Ireland and the support services available for migrant women’s groups and the wider community.
- - Create and disseminate materials that raise awareness about DSGBV and available resources.
- 3. Facilitation of Support Groups:
- - Coordinate and facilitate AkiDwA’s monthly online social support group for migrant women affected by DSGBV, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
- - Develop group programs that address the needs and challenges of participants.
- 4. Collaboration and Partnerships:
- - Build and maintain partnerships with other organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance support services.
- - Participate in coalitions and networks focused on addressing DSGBV.
- 5. Report Writing:
- - Prepare detailed reports on activities, case outcomes, and program impacts for internal use and external stakeholders.
- - Assist in the development of funding proposals and grant reports.
- 6. Attendance at Relevant Meetings:
- - Represent AkiDwA at meetings, conferences, and events related to DSGBV.
- - Present on the organization’s work and advocate for the needs of migrant women affected by DSGBV.
- 7. Program Management and Financial Oversight:
- - Coordinate AkiDwA’s Network of Community Safety Volunteers including ongoing support, capacity building and volunteer management.
- - Oversee the implementation and management of DSGBV programs, ensuring they meet the organization’s goals and objectives.
- - Monitor program budgets, manage expenditures, and ensure financial accountability.
- - Work with the finance team to prepare financial reports and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- 8. Other
- - Assist with developing engaging and informative content for AkiDwA’s social media platforms to raise awareness and educate the public about DSGBV.
- - Support with other tasks as required.
Educational Requirement
- Degree in social work, psychology, gender studies, community development, or a related discipline.
Experience Requirement
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with victims of DSGBV, with a strong understanding of the vulnerabilities affecting migrant women.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
