Responsibilities
The Equal Rights Coalition Secretariat Officer reports to the Equal Rights Coalition Manager in the delivery of the ERC Secretariat responsibilities including by:
- Attending all ERC leadership, thematic working group meetings and periodic events to support ongoing programme delivery
- Coordinating internal and external communications with a range of ERC bodies including the member state and civil society co-chairs, the executive committee, the thematic working groups, and the coordinating committee ensuring key information and decision-making opportunities are shared
- Developing and regularly updating the ERC website as a key platform for both internal and external purposes
- Developing and implementing activities that strengthen and support participation of a cross section of member state, civil society, regional, and international actors in the work of the ERC
- Supporting the logistics, organisation, and delivery of a global convening of ERC bodies to review the ERC strategy and implementation plan and to develop its future action
- Supporting the organisation and delivery of ad hoc convenings, workshops, and learning events at the instance of the co-chairs and the thematic working groups
- Actively supporting a range of ERC bodies to carry out their duties including by scheduling regular meetings, recording and sharing of meeting records, maintaining membership and participation lists, and maintaining the ERC archive
- Coordinating the timely provision of services by interpreters and translators to ensure participants can work in the three languages of the Coalition (English, French, and Spanish).
- Contributing to other ERC deliverables, including
- Publishing and promoting a calendar of events
- Drafting quarterly donor reports
- Monitoring the Secretariat budget & workplan
- Ensure compliance against donor agreement.
Education and qualifications
- A university degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant area such as human rights, gender studies, international relations
Experience
- Five years relevant and qualifying experience in coordinating an international project or process with multiple partners and/or supporting the membership of a secretariat, coalition, or alliance.
- Demonstrated experience working in multicultural and international programmes in civil society organisations
- Coordinating and supporting reporting on large budgets and grants partnerships
- Working with national governments on addressing human rights actors and issues
- Experience working closely with and supporting LGBTQI+ – led organisations and groups, particularly in the Global South.
Technical requirements
- In using online communications tools, ideally with website and content development experience.
- Working and building internal communications systems to support a variety of stakeholders including member organisations, governments, multilateral institutions, and allied civil society movements
Other requirements
- Ability to work in proficient English and Spanish (mandatory), ideally also in French
