ETP (formally Ethical Tea Partnership) is a global membership organisation catalysing systemic change to benefit everybody who works in tea.
Responsibilities
Programming (50%)
- Regularly update the existing comprehensive assessment to understand the needs and challenges related to Gender and Equality both in programme countries and with ETP’s members to scope project ideas.
- Lead on Gender and Equality technical support for proposals to foundations, institutional and other donors. Providing considerable inputs in designing concept notes and project documents for Gender and Equality mainstreaming.
- Introduce and incorporate the latest tools and methodologies to ensure a gender equality and inclusion lens in all programmes in line with the needs, priorities, and challenges in the operational environment.
Private sector innovation and pilots (20%)
- Working with the Business Innovation Lead and other stakeholders within ETP to help identify innovations for business, specifically seeking approaches which:
- Support gender-responsive human rights due diligence and gender equitable practices (e.g., through support and representation with members on addressing GBVH, enabling access to social security, reducing, and redistributing unpaid care and domestic work)
Gender and Youth Strategic Engagement & Oversight (15%)
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including NGOs, government agencies, and private sector partners to promote collaborative efforts towards gender equality and inclusion.
- Provide thought leadership on ETP's gender strategy.
- Convene the tea sector on key gender issues, representing ETP in multistakeholder forums, supporting the midline strategy review from an equality perspective and using the learning to inform ETP's future Gender and Equality activities.
Policy and Communications (10%)
- Working with the Policy Officer and Communications team, help to develop and update ETP’s evidence-based policy positions and factsheets on the social issues in tea, including gender discrimination and access to welfare.
- Develop case studies and other material to communicate ETP’s Gender and Equality work. Includes capturing impact and change stories.
- Track developments in state, national and global policy equality. Share with ETP team and suggest highlights for broader communications.
Shared Learning (5%)
- Work with the Insights team to establish frameworks for monitoring and evaluate impact against agreed KPIs and ensure that learning on gender and youth is systematically documented and shared with relevant stakeholders inside and outside ETP.
- Analyse programme outcomes and provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Annually contribute to the ETP country plans, ensuring that Gender and Equality improvements are embedded in ETP’s work.
- Contribute to the setting of ETP’s KPIs for equality; support the organisation to deliver those KPIs.
Person specifications & required skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Gender and Equality programming and policy, preferably within the agricultural or development sectors.
- Technical knowledge on gender equality in global supply chains.
- Advanced studies or equivalent experience in International Development, Value Chain Development & Market Systems, Agriculture, Responsible Business Practices or other relevant fields; participatory methodologies that promote learning and social change; participatory research and evaluation designs.
