The LGBTI Stakeholder Group is organized as a governing structure of a coalition of civil society organizations across all regions working to advance the rights and achieve highest development outcomes for LGBTI people. It is organized as a few different spaces, including a virtual space, through a listserv and conference calls, and physical space, through in-person preparatory, strategy and debriefing meetings before, during and after the High Level Political Forum (HLPF). It is a space for LGBTI advocates and allies to reflect and strategize on the issues around the implementation of the Agenda 2030, its relevance to the lives of LGBTI persons and ways forward. Most of all, the LGBTI Stakeholder Groups is an opportunity for LGBTI advocates to support and learn from each other through best practices exchange, capacity building for newcomers, and continuous dialogue.

The LGBTI Stakeholder Group seeks to contract a Consultant to act as its Secretariat - a person who will be the focal point for the organizing of the Group, support coordination and logistics, whilst bolstering the engagement and activities of the Group. The Secretariat will formally report to Outright’s UN Program Director, however the Organising Partners of the LGBTI Stakeholder Group work in close consultation and collaboration with each other and the Consultant will engage with these other Organising Partners as well. The individual will be contracted as an external consultant by Outright International under its standard consultancy agreement and procedure.

The Consultant will be responsible for the maintenance and moderation of the LGBTI Stakeholder Group’s communication channels including scheduling meetings; facilitating members of the group to fully participate in the High Level Political Forum and other SDG-related conferences including side events; as well as coordinating research, drafting and submission for official documents; and coordinating the Group’s engagement with the Major Groups and Other Stakeholders coordination mechanism (MGOS)

The candidate should have at least 5 years’ experience working in social justice and ideally in sustainable development and demonstrated conceptual clarity on LGBTI rights in international law and development. They should be able to work remotely with limited supervision, and to collaborate with a wide range of persons from around the world and across time zones where necessary. Applicants who are LGBTIQ and or have a Global South-focused approach are especially encouraged to apply.
