Key Deliverables  
Political Monitoring, Insight and Analysis   
•     Monitor and interpret the UK political and policy environment relevant for our organisational objectives, identifying opportunities for delivery of influencing and programming objectives, and sharing information and updates on the political and parliamentary environment with others in a timely manner 
•       Advise senior management on key political developments that are relevant for Plan International UK
 
Advocacy and Campaigns Strategy Development and Delivery   
•       Contribute political analysis and intelligence to advocacy and campaigns strategy development, ensuring strategies are based on high quality political and stakeholder analysis to deliver impact
•       Collaborate with advocacy, campaigns and other colleagues including as part of a matrix campaign teams to develop and deliver cross-functional strategies

External affairs and thought leadership  
•       Contribute to the development of clear themes and objectives for Plan International’s external voice and thought leadership, to support our influencing and engagement objectives and organisational profile
•       In collaboration with media colleagues, proactively identify and create opportunities to use our expert voice externally in the media in relation to political and policy moments, and ensure relevant and impactful responses to political announcements on issues of strategic importance to Plan UK
 
Other Duties   
Contribute to the Unit, Directorate and organisation’s wider work including:  
•       Actively contribute to and deliver on efforts to take an anti-racist approach across all our work  
•       Support the wider team goal to integrate a youth-centred approach to influencing, including by chaperoning young people as required to engage with governmental and political stakeholders, and engaging with the Youth Advisory Panel in relation to our government and political affairs work 

Essential Criteria  
  • Significant experience of developing and implementing effective Government relations and Parliamentary engagement strategies targeting a wide range of stakeholders designed to deliver on organisational objectives, including influencing and awareness among key stakeholders 
  • Significant experience of working with Government, political parties and/or parliamentary systems (ideally in the UK) and an understanding of how to engage, influence and create change in these systems 
  • Demonstrable experience in building effective relationships with a wide range of partners and leading systems to monitor and manage these effectively 
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively with a range of audiences including expert and non-expert audiences  
  • Experience of designing and leading Parliamentary events  
  • Ability to work in partnership with young people to plan, develop and deliver engagement and influencing including co-designing youth led events.
