About this position
We are looking for consultant to provide operational and analytical support to the Gender and Diversity Division (GDI). As an Operational and Analytical Consultant, you will work closely with GDI specialists in the (i) preparation of inputs to mainstream gender and diversity issues in IDB operations, (ii) design, execution, and monitoring of GDI operations; (iii) analysis and review of technical reports; and (iv) collection of quantitative data.
You will work in the Gender and Diversity Division (GDI) part of the Social Sector (SCL). The team’s mission is to promote: (a) gender equality and empowerment, (b) development with identity of indigenous peoples, and (c) the inclusion of African descendants, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. It supports Bank operations, provides policy and strategic guidance, and carries out technical assistance and training
What you’ll do:
  • Research and collect data on gender and/or diverse population groups gaps that will be used to inform gender and diversity (G&D) mainstreaming in IDB operations.
  • Provide inputs and prepare G&D gap analysis for IDB operations.
  • Support GDI specialists in the monitoring and execution of IDB operations that are aligned with G&D.
  • Participate in technical meetings with counterparts and government agencies.
  • Provide inputs and recommendations to reports and deliverables prepared by external consultants.
  • Accompany design, execution, and monitoring of Technical Cooperations (TCs), particularly ensuring the achievement of activities and results.
  • Support administrative management of TCs, including writing Terms of References (ToRs), supporting contracting processes, following up payments and registering financial processes.
  • Support the preparation of TCs’ annual reports, including collecting information about execution of activities, key indicators, lessons learned and financial progress.
  • Work with databases and data analysis.
  • Participate on G&D research projects/initiatives.
  • Support the development of knowledge and dissemination products.
What you'll need
  • Education: Master’s degree in economics, Public Policy, International Development or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience working on social development. Of those, at least 3 years of experience working on gender issues and/or one of the four diverse population groups prioritized by the IDB (LGBTQ+, Afrodescendants, Persons with Disabilities and Indigenous People). Experience working on multilateral organizations preferred.   
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills in Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated experience working on development projects.
  • Proficiency analyzing data.
  • Familiarity with gender and/or diversity mainstreaming in operations.
