A.   Responsibilities

The Gender and Social Protection Advisor is responsible for:

  • representation of the project “Social Protection for women in the MENA region” in Egypt 
  • coordination of project implementation in Egypt on all levels in line with the project’s intervention logic and orientations agreed with partners 
  • leading the communication with partner organisations in Egypt (Ministry of Social Solidarity, Arab Women Organisation and other implementation partners) 
  • implementation of cross-cutting tasks
 

The Gender and Social Protection Advisor performs the following tasks:

B.   Tasks

1.     Implementation of the project's technical activities in Egypt
  • provides advisory support to partners in the implementation and/or operationalization of public policies and/or programs in the field of gender-responsive and gender-transformative social protection
  • coordinates activities in Egypt within the framework of the Innovation Lab and provide support to the national country team

2.     Knowledge Management
  • supports the process of conducting studies and analyses at national level on topics related to gender and social protection and work to disseminate themmaintains good and structured documentation of all relevant activities
  • ensures knowledge transfer to project information
  • develops ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures
 
​​​​​​​​​​​​​​3.     Cross-cutting project activities
  • supports the coordination of all activities carried out by the project in Egypt with institutional partners at national level
  • contributes to the identification of potential synergies and close cooperation with relevant GIZ Egypt projects (e.g. EOSD, WoMENA) and other relevant national/international projects
  • contributes to the process of the procurement of services (management and supervision of external service providers, monitors the quality of products and services rendered)
  • supports the set-up and strategic planning process of the project.

  • establishes and maintains networks with current and potential partners and players in the field of social protection
  • develops and updates the project's communication tools and media (fact sheets, leaflets, brochures, guides, manuals, Power Point presentations, etc.)

  • performs other duties and tasks at the request of the management

C.   Required qualifications, competences and experience
  • University degree in social or political sciences, development studies, gender studies or other related fields.
  • Strong technical knowledge with 5 years working experience in the area of gender equality and/or social protection, preferably with a focus on gender-responsive and gender-transformative social protection design and implementation. 
  • 5 years of working experience in development projects within governmental or non-governmental organisations.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken Arabic and English languages.
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
