Energy & Climate Change Cluster (ECCC)
On behalf of its commissioning parties, mainly the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the Pakistani Government in achieving its climate related targets and its transition to clean and green energy. We support our government partners, civil society and the private sector to contribute towards Pakistan’s national policies related to energy transition and climate change. We provide policy and strategic advice/support to our government partners to achieve Pakistan’s climate and energy goals. Moreover, we provide opportunities to our Pakistani partners for international exchange with experts from Germany and other countries. By bringing together government organisations, private sector, civil society and academia, we act as change agents in the process towards strengthening Pakistan’s climate adaptation and resilience as well as energy transition.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Actively engage in on-going self-reflection and continue to advance their knowledge and skills related to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Integrate and operationalize gender and diversity aspects in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting
  • Develop and implement inclusive suitable methodological approaches in the assigned area of responsi-bility to avoid systematic biases or discrimination
  • Extend technical support and advice on content-related and conceptual issues of gender equality for the projects of the Energy and Climate Change Cluster (ECCC) and for international partners on the inte-gration of gender-specific aspects into policies, programmes and projects
  • Support with gender-relevant project monitoring and reporting to GIZ‘s main commissioning party, the BMZ, or other relevant donors/political institutions
  • Responsible for technical coordination of measures to promote gender equality within the framework of the GIZ Gender & Diversity Strategy for Pakistan
  • Responsible for developing capacity building measures for ECCC project teams and partners in the areas of gender mainstreaming, gender-transformative approaches and women's economic empowerment
  • Carry out technical coordination with relevant stakeholders of the projects and establish partner networks to promote gender equality
  • Manage information and knowledge on the topic
  • Write analyses, articles, content for social media, prepare presentations and publications on the topic of gender equality and diversity
  • Implement cross-sectional tasks such as event and knowledge management
  • Mainstream gender aspects across the implementation of all relevant cluster activities
Qualification & Experience

  • University degree in political and social sciences with a focus on gender and development cooperation or related field
  • At least 5 years of professional comparable experience
  • Proven  expertise  in  the  field  of  gender  (mainstreaming,  transformative  approaches,  intersectionality, 
    etc.) 
    High degree of independence and problem-solving orientation as well as enthusiasm for teamwork
    Commitment, reliability, strong self-organization, diplomatic skills and intercultural understanding
    Ability to prioritise tasks and act strategically and analytically
    Fluent in English and Urdu languages
