The Data for Health (D4H) Gender Equity Unit is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies and housed in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. D4H helps over 40 low- and middle-income countries collect better public health data, specifically strengthening and standardizing birth and death records and improving the impact of health data through policymaking and program development. The Gender Equity Unit focuses on supporting the integration of gender throughout all health data efforts within D4H and beyond.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • The Research Program Coordinator will ensure smooth operations across the different sites. Primary responsibilities include,
  • Operational planning.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings with in country and international collaborators.
  • Assist with research project design and implementation.
  • Maintain a schedule and timeline for all participating researchers.
  • Assist with creation of research materials.
  • Prepare research ethics applications for IRB study approval.
  • Assist with implementation of safety and security of data and quality control measures to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Ensure data management aligns with ethics requirements and is consistent across countries.
  • Maintain accurate records of all research activities.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for confidentiality, safety, and best research practices are followed.
  • Ensure adherence to study protocols for participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection, and referrals.
  • Develop strategies to meet targets for study participant recruitment.
  • Actively participate in all study meetings and provide updates on study protocol implementation and study operations.
  • Support the development of results dissemination, such as journal articles, reports, blogs, conference abstracts, presentations, etc.
  • Identify potential funding opportunities related to the Gender Equity Unit’s interests and coordinate research grant-writing.
  • Keep abreast of literature and latest developments related to gender equity and share developments with the Unit.
  • Attend bi-weekly check-in meetings with supervisor to assess performance, strengths, and areas for improvement in current position and to track professional goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a range of cultural settings, with appreciation for diverse perspectives and opinions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gender equity and intersectionality.
  • Experience with international settings.
  • Ability to travel internationally to low- and middle-income settings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
