Responsibilities:
- Implement and oversee the implementation of global analyses using R and/or Stata.
- Oversee data management, analysis of international surveys (e.g. DHS, MICS, PMA), program code and associated documentation for all component projects for AIU, under direction of the AIU research program leadership.
- Oversee training of project staff on data processing and establishing efficient systems.
- Make data and model-estimates available and accessible to non-research audiences, where appropriate.
- Remain up-to-date on new approaches, innovations, standards, and best practices in statistical data analysis relevant for supporting scientific rigor.
- Remain up-to-date on the development of new SRH indicators, emerging research and new data on SRH impacts and costs, specifically in the areas of abortion, family planning, maternal and newborn care, STIs and HIV in the international context.
- Support and/or participate in drafting and/or review of research articles and project reports, serving as first author in some cases.
- May present findings and represent Guttmacher at meetings and conferences.
- Provide mentorship, onboarding and training support to AIU program staff on all aspects of the program's analytic processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience performing and understanding complex data analysis procedures.
- High level of expertise working with population survey data, including DHS, MICS, PMA as well as other survey data.
- In-depth knowledge and familiarity with key sexual and reproductive health modelling research.
- Deep familiarity with global SRH indicators, including monitoring and measurement.
- Experience merging data tables and extracting data from a variety of sources.
- High proficiency with Stata required.
- Able to learn new data manipulation and analysis techniques and tools quickly.
- Ability to liaise with external consultants, collaborators and/or organizations.
- Excellent ability to work with team members with diverse skills.
- Ability to train and supervise staff in more junior positions in implementing data management and analysis tasks.
- Strong ability to work independently and in close collaboration with others.
- At least 5 years of experience working on research projects with complex data or programming needs.
- A master's degree in a social science, public health, statistics, computational sociology, data science, or equivalent training in a related field and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and seven years of progressively responsible related work experience
