The Department of Media and Culture Studies externe link is seeking a lecturer with a profile in Gender Studies and Postcolonial Studies.

Wat ga je doen?
We are looking for candidates who can teach in English as well as Dutch, especially at the BA level in the Gender Studies minor externe link (Politics of Representation, Visuality and Technology) and the Postcolonial Studies minor externe link (Postcolonial Configurations: Gender, Race and Culture, Postcolonial Europe) and in specific courses of the BA Media and culture externe link (Gender, Intersectionality and Cultural Critique) BA Communicatie- en informatiewetenschappen externe link (Culturele representaties, Digitale identiteit) and BA Taal- en cultuurstudies externe link (Sporen van migratie in geschiedenis, taal en cultuur / Historisch en cultuurwetenschappelijk onderzoek naar racisme en uitsluiting).

Teaching seminar groups is the main part of your job; you will do this as part of a team and under the guidance of a course coordinator. As a seminar teacher, you will also be responsible for grading tests and assignments.

Although we look for lecturers who are broadly applicable, we will determine by mutual agreement which courses best fit your background and knowledge.

We ask you to look closely at the educational offerings of the programmes mentioned above and clearly indicate in your motivation letter which programmes and which courses you are ideally suited for.

More specifically, the following requirements apply:

You have completed an MA or RMA in a field relevant to this position.
Preferably you have teaching experience or experience guiding groups.
Your command of at least the English language and preferably the Dutch language at level C1 externe link. This is relevant because we provide education in both languages, and because we work with an international group of students and staff. We offer courses to help employees reach the appropriate language level.
If you do not yet have a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ, in Dutch: Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs, BKO), you will be expected to obtain it in the first two years of your appointment.
