This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional, with native English language skills, and interest in working in a non-governmental organisation in the field of global health and international development..
Based in Brussels, the Communications Officer will support DSW’s EU Advocacy work on research and innovation for poverty-related and neglected tropical diseases (in short global health R&I), and other related development or global health topics such as women’s health, gender equality, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Based in Brussels, the Communications Officer will support DSW’s EU Advocacy work on research and innovation for poverty-related and neglected tropical diseases (in short global health R&I), and other related development or global health topics such as women’s health, gender equality, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Areas of responsibility for the position include:
- Support the Head of the EU office in the planning of advocacy communications activities, work plans, and budgets
- Implement DSW’s EU advocacy communication activities, including:
- Drafting and distributing EU media pieces, op-eds, and articles,
- Building a network/ good working relationship with relevant journalists
- Managing and further developingDSW EU’s online and social media presence
- Proofreading and editing materials, publications etc.
- Media monitoring on relevant topics and identifying opportunities to engage with media and/or stakeholders on topics related to global health
- Coordinate the drafting and design of various communications outputs, including publications, visual assets, videos etc.
- Contribute to the strategic development of DSW’s EU communications work, developing new approaches and formats
- Coordinate EU communication with DSW’s international/ German communications team
- Represent DSW in external events and meetings, as well as towards external stakeholders on communications in agreement with the Head of the EU office
- Support the Head of the EU office in preparing regular reports and M&E activities and support resource mobilisation activities
- Evaluate the impact of communication outputs (social media campaigns, newsletters, videos, etc.)
- And other duties as assigned.
