Climate & Environmental justice
The consultant will work under the supervision of the Senior Global Policy and Advocacy Specialist within the Strategy, Network and Knowledge cluster, working with ILC regional Coordination Units and other colleagues to provide support to ILC members to achieve impact at national, regional and global level. The consultant will liaise closely with the gender team and gender focal points across the ONE team, to ensure synergies between ILC’s gender justice pledge and corporate gender action plan and operations on women’s land rights and gender justice.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The following outputs are expected from the consultant:
- ILC Women Land Rights program for system change is established and becomes organic within the Coalition;
- Sustained ongoing and expanded initiatives related to secure women land rights by members and partners;
- Mainstream S4HL campaign within ILC national work and adopt Gender transformative approaches
- Secure funding for the portfolio and manage implementation of earmarked funds for women land rights and gender justice
- ILC members, especially those working to secure women’s land rights, are visible and influencing national, regional and international policy spaces;
- ILC Women’s constituency platform consolidated and strengthened;
- Power of voice, space and resources is increasingly under the leadership of grassroots, rural, indigenous and pastoralists women in national, regional and global level on efforts to achieve people centred land governance;
- National Land Coalitions prioritise and realise secure women’s land rights is an important area of programming and advocacy with special attention to the leadership of grassroots, rural, indigenous and pastoralists women;
- Coordinated efforts among ILC members, One Team and partners towards promotion of secure women’s land rights;
- ILC and ILC members are visible as leaders in securing women land rights as a prerequisite to achieving gender justice and sustainable development;
- Technical support for systems change to member-led platforms ensuring a powerful transformative strategy ensuring projects and campaigns are aligned with the ILC Strategy and coherent with the national, regional and global work plans;
- ILC contributes to the implementation of the Women Land Rights Commitment under the Generation equality;
- ILC contribution to data is evident, in coordination with the Data team;
- In coordination with the Gender Justice advisor, enhance the capacity of National Land Coalitions to adjust to the gender transformative methodology.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Advanced university degree in gender and development, governance and development, law, human rights or other related studies
- At least 7 years of professional experience related to women’s empowerment and gender equality advocacy and programming;
- Experience and leadership in securing women’s land rights, land governance and/or natural resources initiatives, campaigns and programs;
- Strong ability to lead and work with diverse stakeholders in land governance;
- Knowledge of sustainable development, climate change, gender equality and land governance at local, regional and international levels;
- Capacity to work in teams, strong collaborative spirit, and demonstrated project management competencies.
