Strategy and Development
Work with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan for The OutHouse and annual operational plans.
Oversee the design of new services and activities in response to the needs of the LGBTQ+ community
Staff Management
Oversee The OutHouse team of staff, volunteers and stakeholders; ensuring line management, rolesand responsibilities, and all internal and external working relationships are effective, efficient and in-line with robust HR policies, procedures and best practices.

Income, Fundraising and Marketing
Manage the development of an income strategy that ensures sustainable and long-term funding for The OutHouse
Oversee the building and management of relationships with core funders, negotiations of funding arrangements, contracts and service level agreements and bid/grant applications.
Manage the development and implementation of a marketing and communications strategy, in-line with the agreed strategic direction, current and emerging media and platforms and proactive/reactive needs of the organisation.

Governance, Quality and Compliance
Support the Board of Trustees to understand and meet its governance responsibilities, provide appropriate reports and updates and ensure services are delivered in accordance with the Trusted Charity Quality system.
Work with the Board of Trustees to ensure that The OutHouse meets all its legal obligations and best practices, including charity law, employment law, data protection, health and safety, safeguarding and working with vulnerable adults and children.
Ensure that all safeguarding systems and processes are in place and in line with local authority guidelines.
Work with the Board of Trustees to ensure there is an annual governance calendar and risk register.
Liaise regularly with the Chair of Trustees and attend Board meetings, as required.

Finance
Ensure robust financial management by working with the Board of Trustees to set annual budgets.
Manage all income and expenditure and report regularly to the Board of Trustees alongside all staff with financial responsibilities.

Essential Professional Competencies

Strong track record of professional work in the charitable or not-for-profit sector.
An entrepreneurial spirit, commercial acumen and ability to lead fundraising and development initiatives.
Demonstrate strategic planning and resource management skills.
Experience of facilitating successful processes.
Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience of successful financial forecasting and management.
Excellent IT and computer skills relevant to the post’s requirements.
An informed interest in the work of The OutHouse and a commitment to our core values.
Prepared to live within commutable distance from Colchester in order to fulfil the role.
