Opportunity 

Abt Global seeks a qualified Manager of Gender, Youth, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GYDSI) to contribute to the expected USAID-funded Bangladesh Enabling Environment for Climate Resilience (EECR) Activity. This activity will support creating a policy environment and governance structure favorable for transformation changes in key systems aiming at net-zero emissions and climate-resilient Bangladesh. It aims to create long-term systemic shift in Bangladesh’s climate resilience through interventions such as enabling policy development, facilitating technology transfer, bolstering climate research, and facilitating inclusive climate governance. 

 Core Responsibilities 
  • Lead the development and implementation of the project’s Gender and Inclusive Development Strategy, ensuring that gender, youth, disability, and social inclusion-focused design, measurement, capacity strengthening, and partnership are integrated into all aspects of the EECR activity.
  • Develop and execute plan for addressing gaps in gender equality and social inclusion data across priority sectors (e.g., natural resource management) and geographies, in consultation with MEL team and stakeholders.
  • Partner with diverse stakeholders in the development of policies and programs that specifically address the needs, engagement, and leadership of of marginalized women, youth, persons with disabilities, and ethnic minorities in the context of climate change.
  • Design and facilitate GYDSI-focused training and capacity strengthening activities and plans co-created with project staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team to integrate GYDSI indicators into project monitoring and adaptive management frameworks, ensuring that progress on GYDSI objectives is accurately tracked and reported.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including local and national government agencies, civil society organizations (particularly women-led, youth-led, and disability rights organizations) private sector partners, and international donors, to promote equity-focused climate resilience efforts.

What We Value
  • Bachelor’s Degree + 12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 10 years of relevant experience, or PhD + 8 years of relevant experience
  • A degree in a relevant field such as gender studies, social sciences, social inclusion, environmental sciences (including water resource management, forestry, agriscience, or renewable energy), or international development.
  • Professional and lived experience in gender, youth, disability, and social inclusion, preferably in the context of climate change and resilience.
  • Strong understanding of the socio-cultural and political context of Bangladesh, including knowledge of the ethnic minority groups recognized by the Government of Bangladesh and refugee and migrant communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective GYDSI strategies and programs in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to co-create and oversee GYDSI assessments, using data to inform activity planning and strategy.
  • General knowledge of Bangladesh’s policy environment for climate action, climate change mitigation and adaptation; decarbonization pathways; energy efficiency; political economy of reform; and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders at the local, sub-national, and national levels.
  • Fluency in English and Bengali required. Fluency in one or more Indigenous language of Bangladesh, such as Chakma, would be an asset.
