Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI)
Develop and lead a comprehensive DEI strategy
  • Ensure the 2023 DEI assessment and initial action plan is fully developed into a comprehensive, coherent strategy and plan aligned with our mission, values and strategic goals.
  • Support members of the senior leadership team to identify and effect changes to policies and practices in their respective portfolios and teams, in order to promote diversity, feminist leadership and anti-racism at all levels and across all functions within the organization.
  • Coordinate the different initiatives included in the DEI plan, providing technical guidance to action owners, and ensuring that interventions are coherent, well planned and sequenced, effectively implemented, and regularly communicated.

Foster a culture of inclusion and empowerment
  • Lead on the culture change, awareness and training component of the DEI Action Plan:
      • Design a process for Hivos staff to imagine, discuss and agree “The Hivos We Want” – the desired future culture of Hivos that allows us to live our values.
      • Develop and implement initiatives to bring “The Hivos We Want” to life and create a psychologically safe workplace for employees of all backgrounds and identities, overcoming lack of trust and fear of conflict in order to foster greater commitment, accountability and results.
      • Develop and implement training programs to improve cross-cultural competencies and address racism, homophobia, misogyny, and other forms of discrimination or unconscious bias.

Drive data-driven decision-making
  • Work with the HR team and other relevant departments to collect and analyze data on key DEI metrics to measure progress and inform strategic priorities.
  • Develop and implement metrics, tools and systems to track the effectiveness of DEI initiatives and outcomes.
  • Translate data into actionable insights and recommendations for leadership.
